Description |
Blue and white porcelain Nankeen pattern salad bowl with gilt high-lights and slightly indented, scalloped corners. It is decorated on the sides and on the bottom of the bowl inside with a blue Chinese landscape scene. |

Part of a china set that originally belonged to the family of George Read I (1733-1798). The donor is the great, great, great granddaughter of George Read II. George Read I's 1798 inventory done after his death lists "a set of fine dinner china" that was sent to John Read. In his account book of 1806, his son George Read II (1765-1836) recorded the purchase of a "Chinese breakfast and tea set and covered dishes". |
