Description |
Machine-stitched, silk sash of office from the Regina Elena Mutual Beneficial Society, an Italian immigrant women's charitable aid organization in Wilmington (incorporated 1933, dissolved 1986). The Society was named after Princess Elena of Montenegro (1873-1952), who married Victor Emmanuel III (1869-1947) of Italy in 1896. The sash is pale blue silk with a white silk lining and a 2" long gold silk fringe trim at each end. It is embroidered " Curatrice" on the front in yellow. |
