Description Rectangular, framed miniature portrait on ivory (?) thought to be Jesse Shenton Zane (1773-1852), a Wilmington silversmith and hardware business owner. He was active as a silversmith from circa 1795 to 1813. The portrait depicts a three-quarters bust view of a man with short, tousled brown hair and smiling brown eyes. The subject wears a black overcoat with a very high collar and cravat with a white shirt and gold pin. There is a 1925 type-written label on the back that reads:"Given by Miss Purdy / This was left to Miss Purdy by / Miss Elizabeth Zane who died ten years/ ago at the age of 90. Miss Purdy/ does not know whom the picture represents, / Except that he is an old Delawarean. "
