Description Native American stone ax head, probably from the mid to late Archaic Period (6000-1000 BC), made with an approximately 1 1/4" groove at about 1 1/4" from the rounded side. There is an old red and white typewritten label affixed to one side: "Jan. 2, 1868. Indian axe / Appoquinimink. 3 miles / from Smyrna. / From Dr. William Cummins."
