Description Oil on canvas portrait of Christopher Ward (1868-1943) by Henriette Wyeth Hurd. The painting features a half-length portrait of an older, balding man wearing a greyish-green three-piece suit, white shirt,and blue tie. The figure faces left and has hooded eyes and a slightly raised chin. He clasps an unlit pipe in his right hand. The figure is posed before a white curtain, the shadowed fold of which is visible at the left side. The curtain and sitter's clothing are rendered in loose, impressionistic brush strokes.
