Description Desk and bookcase with ogee bracket feet and four drawers below a slant-top desk that folds out and is supported on two runners that can be pushed in and out as needed. The desk compartment has a central drawer, a document drawer, four small drawers, and two secret drawers with spring releases. The drawers have oval brasses with bail handles. The bookcase compartment at the top has four shelves behind glass panel doors. There is a mark in ink on top of one of the secret compartments: "Peter (Raskel?) 1800" (maybe an owner's name); also in pencil on the back of one of the front drawers in the center compartment: "Levi G"; also "Simon" in pencil on the back on one of the secret compartment drawers.

Provenance Bequest of Lydia Laird. Lydia's sister, Mrs. Hugh C. Galloway, said in 1978 that this was not a Laird family piece but was purchased by the Lairds from an antique dealer.
