Description Framed, oval silhouette of Governor Thomas Collins (1732-1789) of Smyrna. The 3" x 1 1/2" bust portrait depicts a man facing right. There is pencil text beneath the image: "Governor / Thomas Collins / of Delaware / 1732-89." The silhouette is cut from white paper that has been mounted over a black silk background in a metal frame. Collins served during the American Revolution as a Lieutenant Colonel in Caesar Rodney's Upper Kent militia and within a year was a Brigadier General of the Delaware Militia. He served as President (Governor) of the state of Delaware from October 28, 1786 until his death on March 29, 1789.
