Description Marking sampler on linen that is colorfully embroidered in wool with the letters of the alphabet in various sizes and styles and the numbers one though nine. There is also an image of a small embroidered house in the lower right corner and it is marked "1853 M. Crosby" by the maker.

Provenance This sampler was made by Margaret Crosby, daughter of Taylor and Sarah (Lawrence) Crosby of Wilmington. She is the niece of Ann Crosby Wollaston (1809-1857).
