Description Unframed watercolor painting of the Richardson Grist Mill by Robert Shaw (1859-1912). The mill building was built in 1785 by Richard Richardson and was last used by his grandson Samuel, who died in 1890. The painting depicts a landscape scene with a dirt road that leads up to the mill building at the top of a small hill. The mill has a low, pitched roof and single dormer window with a narrow chimney to the left of it. A horse and cart can be seen travelling away from the building down the dirt road, which runs in front of it. There is a body of water with a white post and rail fence around it at the right side. It is signed "R. Shaw" in the lower right corner. There is also pencil text on the reverse: "$2.00 / Richardson's Mill / Presented to Historical Society / by Henry C. Conrad / for Robert Shaw Estate / March 15, 1915."
