Date circa 1830
Description Hand-stitched, full-length gold silk dress with a high waistline, long sleeves, and sawtooth decoration added at the neck and sleeves. The dress fastens at the back with ten hooks and eyes (all present) and has eight decorative silk-covered shell buttons (1 missing) at the back. The sleeves are slightly puffed and stiffened with buckram. The hem has two pleats that are stuffed with cotton batting. The bodice is also padded with cotton batting.

Provenance According to the donor, this dress belonged to her grandmother Emma Adelaide Lore, daughter of Eldad and Priscilla H. Lore, who married William Cloud Lodge of Claymont, Delaware on March 13, 1857.
