Description Unframed marking sampler on linen, the upper two rows of which contain a full upper case alphabet in green surrounded by small bird and flower motifs. The central portion of the composition contains a very faded upper case script alphabet of 25 letters ("I" and "j" are interchangeable). This large alphabet has a dark brown lower case alphabet flanking the Y & Z at the bottom. It is signed with "Mary Armstrong aged seven years. / February 11th 1828" beneath a band of alternating strawberry motifs. There is a simple cross stitch border around the edges.
