Description One of a pair of dolls dressed in Swedish national costumes: Male doll with brown hair and a composition head, plastic forearms, and a stuffed body and legs. The shoulders and hips are, jointed. The doll is dressed in the Swedish national costume (Dalecarlia) with a black wool hat, coat, and short jacket (both with red trim), yellow wool trousers with black trim and red pom-poms, white cotton shirt, white knit stockings, and black leather shoes with buckles. There is a label on the bottom of the left shoe: "Made in Sweden".

Provenance The donor ordered these dolls at a department store in Stockholm, Sweden called Nordiska Kompaniet NK in 1937. They were sent to DHS as a thank you from the donor, who enjoyed a visit to Wilmington and the museum in Old Town Hall in May 1937. She sent the dolls for display in the Old Town Hall museum as an example of the Swedish national costume.
