Description Machine and hand-stitched black silk ankle length dress with a full skirt , long sleeves, a plain round neck, and ten hook and eye front closures on the bodice (all present). The sleeves are trimmed with a simple, stiffened linen double cuff that is probably manufactured rather than hand-made. The dress has an apron front with an attached belt.

Owned Elizabeth Robinson Stapler
Provenance Originally belonged to Elizabeth Robinson (Mrs. Stephen) Stapler (1793-1883), the great-grandmother of the donor, Mary Stapler Malone. Elizabeth Stapler was a member of the Friends Meeting at 9th and West Street, Wilmington. This item was originally donated to the Delaware Art Museum but later transfered to the Delaware Historical Society.
