Description Unframed marking sampler on linen, the upper two rows of which contain a 25 letter alphabet ("I" and J" are interchangeable) followed by the date "1821." The center of the composition contains four rows of upper case script letters, beneath which is a 26 letter lower case alphabet in blue. There are also two small embroidered birds. The lower portion consists of a band of strawberry and bellflower decoration and the numbers 1-9 in blue. It is signed "Elenor [sic] Armstrong aged 7 years."
