Makers mark Blade is stamped: "C.V. Keller" and "Solingen."
Description Early nineteenth-century officer's sword and scabbard. The sword has a steel blade that has a 9 3/4" long section of blueing on both sides of the upper end near the grip. This section contains four brass hand-etched floral motifs on each side that are the same theme but look slightly different on each side. The maker's name is hand-etched on both sides of the blade at the base. On one side is "C.V. Keller" and on the reverse is "Solingen." The grip is leather with brass wire wrap and the guard is brass. The pommel has a hand-engraved lion's head motif. The scabbard is leather with a 5 1/2" long brass tip and single brass ring and 1 1/2" wide brass fitting at the top.
