Description Large, oil on canvas portrait of Mary Reah Frazer (1762-1816), the third wife of Captain William Frazer. The full-length portrait depicts a female figure in a coastal setting seated on a rock. She is portrayed against a wooded backdrop and there is also a view of the ocean with a ship in the right background. Various shells are strewn on the ground at her feet. She wears green flat shoes, a white silk bonnet with two large bows on the front, and an Empire style dress with half-length sleeves and a lacy double collar. She also holds a book in her left hand which covers her right hand.
