Makers mark Lincoln/Washington silver medal marked "Bouvet"
Description Commemorative medal of esteem presented to Lieutenant Richard E. Smith by the members of Company K of the Third Delaware Regiment. The gold pin is in the form of a saber and from it the medal is suspended by a 3/4" long red, white, and blue vertically striped grosgrain ribbon and two crossed chains. The medal itself is 1 5/16" x 1 5/16" and in the shape of a Maltese Cross with white enameled inlay on the front. The cross serves as the surround for a 3/4" diameter silver medal under a glass dome that features Abraham Lincoln on the obverse and George Washington on the reverse. The Lincoln bust is inscribed with "Bouvet" at the base of the neck. The Washington bust appears to be similarly inscribed but is not clearly legible. Each arm on the back of the cross holds a portion of the inscription: "Presented to / Lieut. R.E. Smith / by the Members of / Co. K 3rd Regt. Del. Vols."
