Description Miniature portrait on ivory of a woman from the Clayton family thought to be Eliza Polk Clayton (1775-1836; the wife of Dr. James Clayton): Bust portrait of a young woman with blue eyes and brown, tightly curled hair. The subject wears a white low cut, high-waisted, Empire-style gown with a four-layered ruffled collar. The frame is copper and has an opening at the back for a lock of hair (empty).
