Description Wooden sugar bowl on a slightly raised round foot with three raised ridges encircling the body horizontally. The lid has a ball finial. There are two hand-written labels ownership/history labels are adhered to the inside of the lid. There is also a brass plaque on the inside of the lid with text: Spraunce House / 1211 Del. Ave. Wil. Del."

Owned Mary Jones Spruance
Provenance The sugar bowl originally belonged to Mary Jones Spruance (1763-1832), the second wife of Presley Spraunce (1752-1837) of Smyrna, Delaware. She was of Welsh decent and the sugar bowl came from her family. The donor is her great, great granddaughter.
