Makers mark Signature panel above keys with the inscription: "Carolus Trute / Wilmington."
Description Pianoforte with a rectilinear case with alternating light and dark arrowhead inlay banding, straight, tapering legs, and a scalloped skirt. The keyboard has 36 white and 25 black keys. The instrument has a maker's inscription: "Carolus Trute / Wilmington" in an oval satinwood panel above the keyboard.

Owned Elliot family
Provenance Originally belonged to Cloud Elliot (1787-1824) and his wife, Eliza Stidham Elliot. It then passed to their son, Cloud Elliot, and then to his son, Isaac Elliot. Isaac Eliot then passed it to his son, Isaac C. Elliot. Isaac C. Elliot then gave it to Josephine Harvey Capelle, wife of George S. Capelle, Jr. of Wilmington, who donated it to DHS.
