Description Native American stone ax head, probably from the mid to late Archaic Period (6000-1000 BC), made with a 1" groove at about 1 1/2" from the rounded side. There is an old red and white typewritten label (damaged) affixed to one side: "Jan 1868. Indian axe. 3 mi. / from Smyrna. From Dr. William Cummings / Appoquinimink."
