Description Framed, oil on canvas marine painting showing a portside view of the steamship "Meteor" at sea. The steamship has two smokestacks, an American flag flying from the stern, and four figures and lifeboats visible on the deck. A smaller sloop is visible in the foreground alongside the larger "Meteor" and there are also two other ships in full sail visible in the background. The "Meteor," built in Wilmington, DE, was launched in 1876 and did service as a logging vessel, passenger steamer, and mail carrier until it was scuttled in 1939.
