Description Unframed needlework sampler on linen with a small (5 1/4" x 3 1/4") central poem embroidered in black silk: "May I with innocence and peace / My fleeting moments spend / And when the toil of life shall cease / With calmness meet my end / Eleanor Armstrongs / Work January 8th, 1824." The poem is encircled by a border of pale blue and green flowers and foliage. Each corner has an embroidered white rose sprig design and the poem is flanked on either side with blue flower sprigs. The top edge contains a central pair of butterflies and the bottom edge has two small rabbits flanking a rose. There is also a pair of birds on branches on either side of the poem below the blue flowers. A 3/4" wide sawtooth border encircles the entire composition.
