Description Piece of plain weave furnishing fabric; strips of floral, leaf and acorn motifs on a brown ground alternating with a larger veined leaf motif on a white ground; calandered surface finish with block applied dyes in dark brown, tan, red, rose, & yellow with pencilled blue.

Provenance Made at the Wilmington textile mill on the Brandywine River owned by Archibald Hamilton Rowan. The donor's father, James Lea, acquired the piece when he purchased some of the remaining stock after Rowan's mill went out of business in 1799.
