According to the donor, this item came from the family of John Meredith Read, Jr. (1837-1896) of Philadelphia & Albany, New York. Harmon Pumpelly Read was the son of John Meredith Read, Jr. & Delphine Marie Pumpelly Read, and great-great grandson of George Read I.
