Description Oval, framed, black and white engraving of Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790). The engraving depicts a three-quarters bust portrait of Franklin looking right. The engraving is surrounded by an outer border of printed text: "His Excellency B. Franklin L.L.D. F.R.S. President of Pennsylvania, and Late Minister of the United States of America at the Court of France." In an inner border beneath the image is printed text: "CW Peale pinx't et fecit 1787." The engraving is framed in a black and gold oval frame with beaded molding and has a 3/8" diameter hanging ring at the top. On the back is a type-written sticker: "Oct 1865 / Engraving / B. Franklin by / Peale. Given / by Franklin to Gunning Bed-/ ford. Presented / by Miss H. Bedford."
