Description Lady's folding fan with pierced ivory sticks and guards, a brass rivet, and mother of pearl washer. The paper leaf has a printed and hand-painted eighteenth-century Classical revival genre scene with gold accents that depicts ladies and three Roman soldiers on one side, and a small central painted Chinese scene with a figure in a landscape on the reverse. There are two notes hand-written in pencil on the back of the leaf at each guard: "Aunt McKinly's fan - given to sister Jane" and "Aunt McKinly - given to sister Jane / by Aunt A. Richardson." The fan also has a cylindrical cardboard box that is covered in orange, green, and brown printed paper. It also has a note hand-written in pen: "Box containing / Fan belonging to / Jane Richardson McKinly."
