Description Miniature portrait on ivory of a man from the Clayton family (thought to be Dr. James Lawson Clayton; 1769-1833): Bust portrait of a young man with blue eyes and dark hair that is swept forward at the temples and up at the front with long side-burns. The subject wears a navy blue coat with gold buttons and a white waistcoat and cravat; "I P/ 1815" is scratched into the background next to the left lapel. The frame is copper.
