Description Native American stone ax head, probably from the mid to late Archaic Period (6000-1000 BC), made with a 1 1/4" groove at about 2" from the rounded side. There is an old red and white typewritten label affixed to one side: "Nov. 1864 Indian Axe, New / Castle County. From J.C. Patterson. 1st gift listed to the Historical Society."
