Description Framed, oil on canvas portrait of Thomas Carson Hambly (1798-1885) of Christiana, Delaware. The half-length portrait depicts a man with dark, curly hair that is piled up at the center and sideburns who is seated in a red chair. He wears a black overcoat with a white shirt, waistcoat, and cravat. There is a label on the reverse of the panel: "By J.H. Mifflin / 34 Arch St/Philadelphia" (probably written by the restorer, Hannah Mae Horner, whose Oct. 1885 label also appears on the reverse. Also label on frame: "From / Snow & Roos, / Depot of Goupil & Co. / San Francisco".
