Mahogany relic/souvenir box with key that contains twenty-five interior compartments that hold twelve glass bottles. Each bottle contains a sample of water from various famous rivers, springs, and water sources from around the world, especially the Near East and Holy Land. The contents of each bottle are labeled with the water source and dated (most are badly damaged and now empty). The chest includes water samples from Lebanon (1861), Mount Carmel (1861), the Sea of Galilee (1861), Well of Cana (1861) Dead Sea, Red Sea, Nile, River Jordan, Napoleon's Spring on St. Helena (1853), Ganges, & Copenhagen.
